Please prepare your non-Catholic friends and family for Holy Communion:  Catholics believe that the Eucharist is truly the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. When we receive him in the Eucharist, we become one Body—Jesus’s Body. When the priest presents the host to us and says, “The Body of Christ,” we reply, “Amen,” meaning “I believe.” By receiving the Eucharist and saying amen, we are professing faith in the Real Presence of the Eucharist. This is why the Catholic Church asks those who do not profess the Catholic Faith, and in fact baptized Catholics who are not in a state of grace, not to receive Holy Communion. This is not to exclude but rather to include at the proper time. With Jesus, we hope and pray that all may be one someday, and we believe that all are destined for the Eucharistic Feast. God's love is inclusive AND exclusive at the same time. Inclusive because He came, suffered, and died to save all people, but exclusive because He claims us as his own, and that requires a response in faith.
